What happens when we meet?

The first session will be an initial assessment, this will last approximately one hour. The aim is to discuss and obtain an understanding of the difficulties that you are experiencing and what it is that you are needing from therapy at this stage in your life.

This will allow us both the space to explore the best way forward and consider whether I am the best therapist for you. If you do wish to continue with a course of counselling, either short – or long-term, we will work out a way forward and arrange a suitable time to meet on a regular basis. This time is then fixed, to the number of sessions, as the regularity and consistency is very helpful to progress.

Finding the right person for you is vital for the therapeutic relationship to be effective and I will understand if, at the end of our initial consultation, you feel I am not that person. If this is the case I am happy to recommend other practitioners, within the practice or in the area.

How often will we meet?

Usually we will meet once a week at the same time. It could be more frequently by arrangement depending on your needs and what we agree is best for you.

Each session will last for fifty minutes on the same day and time as arranged each week.

Any sessions missed by the client are still considered as a paid session, as that space is yours and allocated to you for the duration agreed.

Each session is paid at the beginning of the meeting. If the therapist cancels, there is no charge to the client.

Can I miss the sessions?

The regularity of the meetings is vital for the therapy. We will try to arrange an alternative day and time for that week. If this is not possible, you will be asked to pay for the missed or cancelled session.

Which languages can you offer therapy in?

I can offer therapy in English, Urdu and Panjabi.

What are the Fees?

I offer a sliding scale; depending on your individual circumstances and income.
As a guide my fees are usually between £45 and £60 per session.

Concessions: Limited concessional appointments are available for students.

I’ve tried to answer the frequently asked questions here, but if I’ve missed anything out, please feel free to contact me.
